Child Safety Standards
Scope
Stay is anonymous stranger chat. Google Play’s child-safety rules for this category apply even if we never intend to have child users.
Stay’s target audience is adults 18 and over only. We do not enroll in Designed for Families.
Age gate
Stay asks for date of birth. The server computes age and rejects anyone under 18. A self-attest button is not enough.
An under-18 date, or tapping “I am under 18”, locks that device so the same phone cannot immediately retry with another date.
Signup requires a short-lived age token issued only after a passing date of birth.
In-app report and block
Report and block are in the chat menu. A report stores the reason and the chat id when present, and blocks rematch both ways.
CSAM
Sexual content involving minors is banned. A scan runs before a photo or video is served. A hit expires the file, bans the account, and queues a CyberTipline packet (hashes and metadata — not the image bytes) for NCMEC or the competent local authority.
An in-app report that the other person seems under 18 does the same: media is taken down, the account is banned, and a safety event is queued.
Named child-safety contact for Play Console and law enforcement: safety@stayanon.app.
Media
Chat photos and videos are served through short-lived signed URLs, not raw object keys. Temporary-chat media stays blurred until friendship. We do not offer a kids mode, and we do not use child imagery in the listing.
